About
Engineering rigor meets software craft
Transopt is a small, senior consultancy led by Haris Ballis, PhD, working with a network of specialist collaborators.
We are civil engineers, operations researchers and software engineers. Our lead consultant holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, an MSc in Transport & Business Management from Imperial College London, and a PhD in Civil & Environmental Engineering from the University of Cyprus. With 10+ years across transportation engineering, operations research, geospatial analysis and software engineering, we combine rigorous modelling with hands-on software development.
That combination shows up in our work: Digital Twins for major UK rail stations, AI-driven disruption-recovery tools, and infrastructure-resilience platforms built for national agencies and international institutions. We bring the same blend of transport-modelling depth and software engineering discipline to every client, and bring in the right specialists for each project.
We also give back to the tools we rely on, with a merged core contribution to pandas and talks at the Python Athens community.
Based in Athens, we take on projects both within Greece and internationally.
